Key Fact: Common separable prefixes: an-, aus-, auf-, ein-, mit-, nach-, vor-, zu-, zurück-, zusammen-, weg-. In subordinate clauses, the prefix stays attached: "...weil ich um 8 Uhr anfange" (NOT anfange ich).
Exam Tip: "Ich möchte" is technically the subjunctive of mögen but functions as a modal verb. It is the standard way to express "I would like" in German. Note: ich kann, ich muss, ich darf, ich will, ich soll — these all have NO -e ending in the ich form.
