Common Errors: Watch Out! Students often make mistakes with this topic. Wrong: The ESA is an exam where you just make art for 10 hours with no preparation. Correct: The ESA has two parts: a PREPARATORY PERIOD (weeks of research, development and experimentation — like a mini-portfolio) and the 10 HOURS SUPERVISED TIME (where you create your final response). The preparatory work is marked alongside the final piece. Without thorough preparation, you cannot score well.
