🔀 Board Differences
Board specifications differ in assessment structure and emphasis. The core content is shared across boards; these are the genuine differences by board:
AQA: Two exam papers plus coursework; specific set texts including an anthology and both open- and closed-book components. Unseen analysis required. Both AS and A-level on the same specification.
Edexcel: Two exam papers plus a coursework option; a different set-text list. Includes poetry, prose and drama with comparative and contextual tasks.
OCR: Distinct set texts with a strong comparative element across periods; includes a non-exam assessment component.
WJEC: Welsh board with its own set-text list and unit-based exam structure.
CCEA: Northern Ireland set texts and assessment structure differ from the England boards.
